When many people hear the words "home studio," they instantly picture a sketchy corner of someone's basement with maybe a cheap light from Home Depot and a stained sheet as a background. I completely understand this hesitation so I wanted to create a page to clarify what I mean when I invite you to my home studio to shoot so that you can feel comfortable before arriving.
The studio itself is in a large room and is a fully equipped photo studio with plenty of space for us to work. We typically will be working with several large lighting modifiers in front of a large backdrop. I also frequently leverage a commercial-grade smoke machine for most shoots to either add cinematic haze or fill the whole space with smoke to create an atmosphere. A comfortable couch is behind the shooting space for observers to hang out.
You, the model, must have a private space to use while you are here as a base camp for your clothing and to change in. For this, I leverage a guestroom that will always be clean and clutter-free. You will also have access to fresh, clean towels as needed. There is also a dedicated bathroom that you can use as needed.
A fire extinguisher is always within arm's reach. Sandbags are used liberally to ensure light stands don't topple and that a first aid kit is close at hand.
As my home is in a residential area, many free street parking spaces exist.
If you come from outside Mississauga, the best option is to take the GO Train to Long Branch Station and then take a bus down Lakeshore.
